Longleng: A Trip to the Land of Clouds

Known as the ‘Land of Clouds’, Longleng is the tenth district of Nagaland. It is located in the northern part of Nagaland filled with green hills and fertile land blessed by nature. It is also known for having one of the few virgin forests in all of Nagaland. Aside from the beautiful nature, Longleng has a lot more to offer to the visitors willing to visit this precious hidden gem.

Longleng is mostly inhabited by the people of the Phom tribe. Longleng is spread over 38 villages, Longleng Town being the district’s headquarters. The district has a population of 50000 people making it an ideal place for tourists to experience serenity while admiring the lush nature.

The Government of Nagaland has also named Longleng the “The District of Handicrafts” because of the intricate handicrafts like bamboo products, handloom shawls and wood crafts produced in the district.

    • Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus ticket to Longleng can be bought at the Dimapur NST Bus station at Civil Hospital Colony. To travel via taxi/sumo there are multiple private travel agencies near Golaghat Road where tickets to Longleng can be bought for Rs 700 per person.

    • Those who prefer more independence and self-sufficiency when traveling can consider renting a car.via Kabzi, located at the third mile near the airport is a reputable car renting agency in Dimapur. The cost of renting an automobile is determined by the kind of vehicle you wish to use and the daily mileage you intend to travel.

    • To travel from Kohima to Longleng, government-run bus tickets are available at the ISBT Kohima.
