Peren is one of the districts of Nagaland, located in the northeastern part of India. With a geographical area of 1799 sq km, Peren is bound to be especially preferable for nature lovers, as it is called “the green district of Nagaland”, because of its high density of flora and fauna.
Peren is divided into three sectors, namely the Barail Hill Ranges, the Jalukie Valley and the Intangki Forest. The people living in Peren mainly belong to the Zeliang and Kuki tribes.

Dimapur to Peren
To travel to Peren, the most convenient route would be from Dimapur, which is the commercial hub of Nagaland and the only city with an airport and railway station. The distance between Dimapur and Peren is 69 km and it takes around 2 and a half hours to reach Peren.
- Private service: Tickets for bus and sumo services can be bought from Tenyemi Complex, N.S.T. colony Dimapur. Each ticket costs Rs 400 and is available almost all days of the week.
- Public service: Nagaland State Transport (NST) also provides bus service but is only available on Wednesdays, costing Rs 200 per person.
- Car Rental: Car rentals are also a good option for travelers who want more freedom and self-reliance while on the road. Kabzi is a reliable car rental service provider located at the 3rd mile near the airport. The hiring rate of cars depends on the type of car you want to rent as well as the distance you are planning to cover on a daily basis.
- Chopper Service: Nagaland State Transport (NST) chopper services are also available from Dimapur to Peren with a mere 25-minute flight time. This service costs Rs 1625 per person, as per the price chart published by NST.
Kohima to Peren
To travel from Kohima to Peren, the distance is around 139 km, and it takes 3 and a half hours to reach the destination.
- Private service: Cabs and sumo tickets are available at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) Kohima costing (Rs.) per head.
- Public service: Nagaland State Transport also provides bus service from Kohima to Peren through ISBT Kohima, which costs Rs. 130 for semi-deluxe and Rs. 170 for super-deluxe.
- Car rentals: Self-drive car rentals are also available in Kohima. If you want to avail of this service, their store is located on the ground floor of Beits Plaza, New Secretariat Rd, Kohima.
