The Metumnyo Festival is celebrated by the Yimkhiung-Naga tribe. It is a festival of harvest, hosted by the tribe usually in the second week of August after the millet crop is harvested. The festival is enlightened by the engagement of young boys and girls in their community.

It is said that the Yimkhuing tribe, before the arrival of the Christian missionaries in their land, believed that males have six souls while females have five. In the present age, the tribe continues to showcase the traditions of their forefathers even if they don’t necessarily practice some of these traditions anymore. The war dance, war cries, and feasts are something to witness and indulge in if you are a tourist.
