Tseminyu is considered as one of the rich and historic destinations for tourists in Nagaland. The little town has many stories to share from the remains of ancient shattered pottery, gravestones, graveyards that were abandoned years and years ago to the many archaeological sites which attract tourists from across the country to this little quiet town.
It is also said to be the historic region where the Indo-Naga conflict happened, which is considered as Asia’s most complicated and longest political strife. Tseminyu’s first converts to Christianity were also said to be the first people to witness many miracles. The stories of these moments are now told to people who visit in the form of different monuments and parks.
Tseminyu is located 50.7KM from Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, which takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach the destination. Tseminyu is the home for Rengmas. This district altogether covers an area of 256 sq km and comprises of 39 villages.

How to get to Tseminyu
Travel By Road
The road connecting to Tseminyu from Dimapur is most commonly via Kohima. One can take a taxi from Dimapur (airport/train station) to Kohima which would cost Rs.300/person.
Services from Kohima to Tseminyu:
- Nagaland State Transport (NST) service: The Nagaland State Transport Service is available from Kohima to Tseminyu which costs Rs.80 per person. The tickets can be booked at New NST station in Kohima town.
- There are car rental services available in the city as well, if one wishes to enjoy the liberty to drive around. The prices of the services vary based on the number of days and number of hours that one wishes to keep the vehicle.
- There are no regional taxis available to Tseminyu, however there are private taxis that ply on special requests which costs Rs.300 per person.
- There is another option of taking taxis that travel to Wokha. For this option, one has to book the whole taxi to travel to Tseminyu. The taxi station is located in Polytechnic, Near Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
